But the Tesla and SpaceX CEO has already caused confusion over the baby's name, which he tweeted was "X Æ A-12 Musk."
While it's not clear whether Musk was joking, many of his and Grimes' fans have interpreted the name as something of a riddle, floating their best guesses for what the string of characters means.
One Twitter user interpreted the name as "X Ash Archangel" — "Æ" is pronounced "ash," and "Archangel" was the internal codename for the CIA's A-12 aircraft. Musk liked the tweet, leading people to believe it was the right guess.

X = 10 in Roman numerals, 10 is an angel number representing god and his government on the earth, ‘god said’ appears 10 times in Genesis I. Grimes has a song titled Genesis. Maybe X means Genesis. 🤣— Tierney Mannion (@tierney_mannion) May 5, 2020
I got Jão.— Janne — #TeaMelon 🍵🍉 May the 4th be with you (@langejanne) May 5, 2020
X = 10 = J
Æ = ã
A - 12 (count backwards) = O
Hmm, wouldn't it be cool if the boy would be legally named "X" and @elonmusk would give him his https://t.co/itChMrbqyg domain to do whatever he wants!— Ales Rebec (@alesrebec) May 5, 2020
Theory: this is true and the baby will be called Ash (representing the world tree of Norse mythology perhaps?). The song 4ÆM on Grimes’ new album is a coded dedication to their son. 4ÆM = ‘For Ash Musk’— Tanisha (@VivaTanisha) May 5, 2020
•X, the unknown variable ⚔️— ꧁ ༒ Gℜiꪔ⃕es ༒꧂ 🍓🐉🎀 小仙女 (@Grimezsz) May 6, 2020
•Æ, my elven spelling of Ai (love &/or Artificial intelligence)
•A-12 = precursor to SR-17 (our favorite aircraft). No weapons, no defenses, just speed. Great in battle, but non-violent 🤍

She continued: "A-12 = precursor to SR-17 (our favorite aircraft). No weapons, no defenses, just speed.
She added that "A" also corresponds to "Archangel, my favorite song."
The clarification seemed to add more confusion, and many Twitter users questioned if the name was actually real.
"WAIT SO YALL WERENT JOKING???" user xovoz responded. "
"You realize this is a human child and not an EP right," wrote user mascdonna.
